Ending D.C. Business as Usual

Congress is not working for the people the way it should. It hasn't always been that way, and it doesn't have to stay that way. I will relentlessly push for reforms that will attract better leaders to Washington and hold them accountable to do the job the American people sent them to do.

Term Limits. Too many politicians go to Washington, stay too long, do too little, and begin prioritizing their political careers over the people they were sent to represent–and that’s why term limits are a must. Twelve years in Congress is more than enough time to serve your country, deliver results, and then return home to the real world.

Ban Congressional Stock Trading. Members of the House and Senate vote on policies and sit in briefings that move the financial markets. That kind of access creates a clear conflict of interest. Our lawmakers should be held to the same standards as the American people and must not be allowed to profit from votes or privileged information.

No More Government Shutdowns. Failure shouldn’t be rewarded in Washington. If Congress fails to pass a budget on time, the government should stay open at current funding levels while lawmakers stay in Washington until the job is done. No paycheck, no vacations, no campaigning, and no debating other legislation until the budget is passed.
